Preparation for The Organ I…

We started planning next week’s challenge for months.

In a few words, there is an organ festival taking place in the city of Piteå/Sweden 11th-22th of October.
A huge and magnificent  organ (Yes I’ve been “in it”…) has been built in the Concert Hall of the Acusticum (Institute of Media & Music) during 3 complete years, by a reknown organ builder/designer from Germany.
So now, coming up is the inauguration and a ten days festival during which many organ “rockstars” and organ lovers will have the opportunity to meet, mingle and enjoy daily concerts. The last concert will be performed by “the” Benny Andersson.

My job there, will be to paint,  live,  a canvas of 200 x 160 cm, representing this organ in my kind of way… Tricky was my first thought. But as it came along, I met musicians, organ builders and did some research and all the pieces fell in place the day someone told me that the organ was the “Queen of all Instruments”.

So there will be a Queen to be painted and ready to put in place the last day of the festival…

Getting started, me assembling the frame and stitch the canvas on place.

“Grannie” part II

Tataa… The painting I have been workin’, and working’ and working’ on the last month. Finally done… And still I spare you from all the extra shots… Cut down to 4 minutes, I am not as sentimental as for the first time lapse I made… (proud maker of THREE!). Music by College, Critical Mass.

I’ll get back with more, bigger and better pics of the painting.

The new factory!

I’ve been thinking about it for a while. Lack of space was the main reason. And then to be able to have coffee with someone and why not closer to the town…
A chat with a friend and it was set within a couple of weeks. I’m still not used to the thought of leaving my dearest little studio but let’s face it, I am getting bigger, older whatever you want to call it and so are my pieces… Time for a change! Here my own private Mr Handyman Affe freshens up the ceiling…

More pics when we’re set!

Swedish paper!

A quickie! A little Time Lapse from yesterday’s job at a paper convention in Piteå. I painted on paper that’s made in town, it took 4 hours and the theme was obvious to me, origami & paper planes!… Below close up’s.

Boobies!

The “En Dag för Livet” show at Färgfabriken/Stockholm on Sept. 27 th was a success!
So far 51 000 sek donated to Bröstcancerfonden and the exhibition lives on through Anneli Lundkvist’s blog. She is the woman behind it all, the one that got breastcancer and recovered from it. The woman who was so well taken care of that she wants the opportunity to be given to all  7000 women in Sweden who get this terrible disease each year.

50 artists, tv personalities and others participated. A couple of pics from the opening night… among them Lisa Rinnevuo, Johanna Forsberg, Nadia Lousseief, Saga-Mariah Sandberg and little me… Enjoy!

House Of Mendi- NIKI D. Time Lapse

I’ve wanted to do this for years. A time lapse of me painting that I wanted to share with you, because personally I just LOVE TIME LAPSE and watching artists work.
I worked about three weeks with Niki D. Not everyday though and maybe around 5 hours in a row. My inspiration for this lady is Niki de Saint Phalle. Excentric and colorfull.

And the music is Robyn, Body Part I & III. such a good energy for working.
So here it is. Spread it.

“Som Eljest” a photo exhibit.

This spring I was asked to participate in a photo project. Maria Fäldt, photographer from Piteå was working on portraiting profiles from our hometown. People who are creative in various ways. Among them a sculptor, a “flower decorator”, a choir conductor, a musical artist, a movie director, and a magician only to name a few. Fifteen people who are more or less famous and all living in Piteå. Fifteen unique and different portraits.

Usually I’m not so fond of showing pics of me, but… can you guess which one is mine?

The exhibit ” Som Eljest” can be seen Aug.1st to Aug. 22nd in Piteå KONSTHALL.
