Den VITA #3. "Heroine / Cahun"
Claude Cahun.b. 1894.
”Heroine” is what Cahun was a much as the women she wrote about. Political, personal, she never wanted to be famous, and always undermining traditional concepts of gender roles. Fervently against war, her political and artistic actions led to her arrest and death sentence. That was never carried out but Cahun’s health never recovered from her treatment in jail.
Shop: 12 x 8 cm
Den VITA project was to work on single, white, second hand objects and be inspired by women artists, crossing generations and artistic bransch. Some activists, some early pioneers, some simply demanding to be recognized for their work. But according to me, all feminists despite rejection of the term. Each object is one of a kind & handpainted!
